I have really enjoyed these three books by Mitch Albom. He tells stories that make you think but are entertaining at the same time.

If someone was to read just one of your choices which one would you pick and why? Also, when you were young which books did you love and did you try to get your children to read them?
ReplyDeleteReading was such a big part of my childhood, I must of got that from you, in fact all us kids were reading whores. Thanks mom! It is something that I am trying to pass on to my kids. I find myself buying books for that crazy boy of mine that I loved when I was his age. So far all we can agree on is Goosebumps and Castle in the Attic but I will take it!
Just to add my own two cents.. I read the ONCE AND FUTURE KING by T.H. White when I was in high school and it is one book I still love.
I think you may have forgotten how much your dad read when you all were growing up. He always had a book in his hands, I didn't get into reading until you all were a little older.
ReplyDeleteThe questions you asked have had me pondering all day. I would make suggestions to someone based on what they were interested in and maybe what stage of life they were in. For example, I think every parent should read the "How to get your kid to eat" book, and the Emotional Intelligence book. The Five Love Languages is so great for couples. I know there are many other books that I read and loved but can't even remember.
You keep being a good example of reading and your kiddos will pick it up. Dad and I did read to you all as often as we could at bedtime, so maybe that rubbed off! I'm going to add Once and Future King to my 'to read list' thanks for the suggestion!
Now that you mention it I do remember Dad reading all the time! Thank you dad! I remember loving his Conan books. I wrote a book report in fifth or sixth grade on one of the Conan books I had read and my teacher was concered that it was so violent. I sure did love those, and the state books that were yours!
